Capilano Suspension Bridge

Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of Vancouver’s most popular tourist attractions for one simple reason, there is so much to see and do! The attraction is only a short distance from downtown Vancouver, so exit the hustle and bustle and enter an ambiance of beauty and thrill. The Capilano Suspension Bridge offers a unique mixture of history and adventure. As Vancouver’s oldest tourist attraction originally built in 1889, Capilano Supension Bridge stretches 450 feet across and rests 230 feet above the Capilano River. 

Treetops Adventure

Treeptops Adventure is one of the most popular experiences at Capilano Suspension Bridge as it is the first of it’s kind in North America. Offering a squirrel’s eye view of the thriving coastal forest, experience how it feels to be on top of the World. The Treetops Adventure will take you through a series of elevated suspension bridges from one magnificent Douglas fir tree to another. The bridges range anywhere around 100 feet above the forest floor, providing a thrilling and completely unique experience. The Treetops Adventure has been recognized by many for engineering awards as well as by danger seekers, enhancing the Capilano Suspension Bridge’s reputation as one of Vancouver’s quintessential activities.

Cliffwalk

The Cliffwalk is the newest attraction addition of the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The heart stopping cliffside journey will take you through the rainforest vegetation on a series of suspended walkways coming out from the granite cliff face above the Capilano River. The Capilano Suspension Bridge team added this attraction from an idea had by the inventor when he was rappelling down the face of the cliff. He realized what amazing views he was experiencing, and decided that he wanted to share the views with anyone who would like to witness the beauty. Glass is all that separates the daring individuals from the canyon below, an adventure not for the faint of heart, or faint of head for that matter.

Totem Park

Part of what brings tourists to the exciting Capilano Suspension Bridge is the history and culture the surrounds the area. The Totem Park shows part of Capilano’s story which explains a tradition of placing totem or story poles on the ground of the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The colorful poles first placed on the grounds have maintained in perfect condition and are now displayed for visitors. These poles offer an invigorating story for visitors to experience and understand part of what is behind the magnificent heights of the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Death

The Capilano Suspension Bridge has a very high standard of safety, and includes many features to ensure that the experience is thrilling, but does not actually put visitor’s lives at risk. Warning signs and directions must be strictly obeyed to ensure safety and the Capilano Suspension Bridge as well as at the Treetop Adventure and Cliffwalk. The only fatal falls that have happened at the Capilano Suspension Bridge have been extremely unfortunate and have been a clear disobedience of the warning signs and directions.
