Feb 11 , 2011
Vancouver is a city filled with natural wonders and cultural charm. You'll find great activities and attractions around every corning, but this list of the top 5 things to do in Vancouver will help you build an outline for your visit to the amazing city.
Vancouver is an incredible city. Whether you're just here to visit, newly arrived or a seasoned veteran, there is always something new and exciting to do. With so many choices, it can be hard to decide where to start. Here are some of the top things to do in Vancouver.
1. Grouse Mountain: This is a prime location for visitors. No matter the season, there's always something entertaining to do out there. Whether you choose to go for a hike or skiing, ice skating, or just dinner at the restaurant, Grouse Mountain is sure to please. The view is absolutely incredible and is worth the trip. Because of the unlimited entertainment, incredible views and proximity to the city, Grouse Mountain is the number one thing to do in Vancouver.
2. Stanley Park: Located in the middle of downtown and is a great place to go if you aren't quite sure what to do with your day. The seawall is about a 6 mile stretch of perfect path for roller-blading, biking, running, or just strolling. If you've got kids, the petting zoo or aquarium will also be high on your list. There is a small golf course or hiking paths throughout the park. Some of the restaurants are pretty great too. Prospect Point Café is also a great lunchtime spot for casual people watching with good food and heavenly, home-made ice cream.
3. Robson Street: If you're in the mood for a little shopping, Robson Street is the best. Between its shops, restaurants, ice skating, people watching, spas and hotels, Robson Street has everything. The eclectic boutiques and cafés are wonderful to browse through. If you're meeting up with a group of girlfriends, this is where we go. This is definitely one of the best places in Vancouver to blow a little cash. The street performers on Robson Street are rife with undiscovered talents and they are pretty entertaining. There are also great nightlife options in this area.
4. Granville Island: If you have more eclectic taste, are interested in creative art and fashion, and like farmer's and flea markets, you have to check out Granville Island while you're in Vancouver. To get to Granville Island, take an Aquabus or water taxi because parking is hard to find in this area. During your commute, be sure to snap some shots of the downtown skyline from the water; it's a pretty impressive and cool thing to see. Once you get to Granville Island take a little time to check out some of the funky galleries and cute boutiques in Net Loft. If you're more interested in sea sports, food or apparel, check out the Maritime Market, where you'll find everything from kayaks to freshly caught seafood.
There's a bunch of kid and family oriented things as well, including the Kid's Market and arts-and-crafts shops.
5. Restaurants: The last, but far from least, best thing to do in Vancouver is eat. Fresh seafood is just the tip of the iceberg here. Here's a quick list of (in no particular order) of great Vancouver restaurants that you can check them out and experience it for yourself.
