Vancouver Art Gallery
Escape a rainy day and get lost in the Vancouver Art Gallery. The museum hosts a variety of exhibitions that showcase both historic and modern talents. Current exhibitions include, Canadian Painting from the 1960s, Offsite: Kota Ezawa, and An Autobiography of Our Collection.
The Vancouver Art Gallery reflects the rich and vibrant character of British Columbia through dynamic exhibits and a collection of old and new art. Located in the heart of Vancouver, this gallery provides a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown. In order to celebrate its 81st year in business, the art gallery offers three exciting exhibits for visitors to tour.
Lights Out! Canadian Painting from the 1960s documents the political and social happenings of the sixties through the eyes of modernist painters such as, Suzanne Gergeron, Ronald Bloore, and Yves Gaucher. Selected paintings arrive from across Vancouver and Canada to contribute to a national portrait of the era. Lights Out! will be shown from February 18th-April 29th.
Offsite: Kota Ezawa displays a diverse selection of Ezawa’s digital animations, slide projections, paper cut-outs, and intaglio etchings, and ink drawings. These pieces provide a commentary on photography’s role in shaping reality. The exhibition will run from February 2nd to September 16th, alongside An Autobiography of Our Collection, which provides an in-depth look into the history of the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Admission to the gallery costs $17.50 for adults, $6.25 for children, and $12.50 for seniors. However, on Tuesdays after five, admission is donation based. Tickets may be purchased at the door and include admission to all exhibits and galleries.
