7th Annual Granville Island Winterruption
Rather than hide away from the cold and darkness of winter, celebrate this beautiful time of year at the annual Wintteruption festival on Granville Island. Just a ferry ride away from downtown Vancouver, this quaint island hosts free music, art, and theatre shows for the whole family.
The Coastal Jazz and Blues society presents its 7th annual wintertime festival this February. At dozens of venues across the island families will find various free music, art, theatre, and cooking demonstrations to attend. Just minutes from hustle and bustle of Vancouver, the Winterruption festival has grown to become the light of winter for tourists and locals alike.
Winterruption caters to all age levels and interests with a wide array of activities. Children can partake in several craft stations, including building an instrument, face painting, and improv classes, while adults will enjoy the free concerts from local groups. Be sure to check out free performances under the Granville bridge that includes a troupe of fire-breathing dancers. All will enjoy watching the street entertainers that line the streets and visiting the artisan markets scattered throughout the island.
Granville Island is accessible by bus, boat, car, bike, or foot. For directions and more information, be sure to check out the Coast Jazz and Blues Society’s website. The event will run from February 24th-26th and is not to be missed.
